Collaborative education
Architecture and the design of our built environment play a crucial role in the development of society and are always in dialogue with other areas of expertise. This is why we early in the undergraduate studies emphasize collaboration with different parties in the surrounding society. In this way, a mutual exchange of creativity and knowledge takes place and valuable relationships between students and representatives of different professions are built up over time.
To deepen learning and anchor our working methods in the reality of practice - but also to expand the perception of architecture - we regularly invite external participants as guest teachers, guest critics and lecturers. This is to further strengthen the institution's connection to the surrounding society but also to participate in the current global architectural discourse.
Architecture & Civil Engineering Projects
Through investigative student projects, degree projects and long-standing collaborations with external parties, the Department of Architecture and Built Environment actively participates in dynamic urban development projects. The built environment is our living lab! Through various collaborations, the students gain insights into current architecture and urban development projects - and the external participants get the students' more unbiased and free creativity in exchange.
Examples of collaborations in urban development projects:
Project ReZycle
Development of an urban meeting place and recycling center that can be reached without a car. Collaboration with VASYD, Malmö City Street office and strategy unit and MKB. Follow-up in Malmö City internal development work and design project for MKB.
Project Nyhamnen
Development work to activate Nyhamnen during the summer in collaboration with City Studio and Malmö City, including student projects, study visits and exhibitions.
Project in Prague
Sustainable Urban Design in cooperation with IPR (Prague City Planning Office).
Varvsstaden, Malmö
Projects, lectures, study visits.
Workshops
The Department of Architecture and Built Environment often participates in creative workshops that activate both the place and the people during an often short but intensive period.
Examples of creative and artistic workshops:
- Sitting devices - New furniture created from residual materials, a development work in the construction phase of Lund new district Brunnshög. Collaboration with Lund urban planning office and the Lund Carnival.
- Following the fish - Workshops in Barcelona and Venice that qualified for exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale. Collaboration with Universidad Politecnica de Cataluña & Politecnico di Milano.
- SUDes Workshop in Copenhagen in collaboration with Copenhagen School of Architecture.
We welcome all proposals for collaboration with external parties who wish to investigate and develop important urban, spatial, and artistic issues related to architecture and the built environment within the framework of our teaching.
