The model workshop is intended to be used for light work. The workshop is located in the south basement of the A-building.

The room is approved for use in accordance with the rules described here on the website and notices in the room.

Booking

We use the same booking template as the Makerspace - booking for the Model Workshop can be found in the form on the right. 

General safety precautions

Never work alone in the workshop. Minimum 2 persons, maximum 4 persons.

No equipment may be operated unless two persons are present. Eating and drinking is prohibited in the workshop.

Workshop hours 

The Model workshop is open Monday-Friday 08.00-17.00.

Safety and clothing 

Always use of eye and ear protection in the workshop. Tie back long hair and avoid loose-fitting clothing as scarves and loose belts. Remove rings and other jewelry that can catch in moving parts.

Machinery 

Do not attempt to operate any machinery until you are sure you know how to use it.  Ensure that all appropriate guards are in position and that all tools and work pieces are secure before starting the machine. No measuring while the machine is running.

Cleaning 

Clean machines after use. Use vacuum cleaner or brush. No cleaning while the machine is running. Restore used tools and put away your models and materials.

First aid and fire emergencies 

Memorize where the emergency stop buttons, first aid kit, emergency exits, fire blanket and fire extinguishers are placed in the workshop.

Accidents and incidents 

All accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences must immediately be reported to the University’s IA System using your LU CAT ID and password: https://app.iasystemet.se/authentication
