Activities
We frequently participate in conferences, seminars, workshops, and any activity that allows us to share our knowledge and learn from others, whether they are academic events, industry initiatives or societal outreach. Here you can find information about our past and upcoming activites - we hope to see you at an event in the near future!
Below you will find a chronological listing of activities where bioDigital matter are participating, and serves as a calendar for upcoming events.

Shaping the City: A Forum for Sustainable Cities and Communities is a forum organized by the European Cultural Centre in context of the ECC Venice Architecture Biennial 2021 titled Time, Space, Existence.
Following the success of the first edition of the Shaping the City in Venice in 2018, the Second Edition is scheduled to take place on 15 and 16 of October 2021 in the iconic Palazzo Michiel in Venice, Italy.
Shaping the City tackles contemporary urbanization and key issues in the city, presented and debated through the perspectives of a group of academics, urban planners and designers, architects, policy makers, and scholars.

Time Space Existence, Venice Architecture Biennale
bioDigital matter participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale with an exhibition bioDigital futures, showcasing the future of 3d printed architecture though our two works Protomycokion and Meristem Wall. The exhibition was open 22 May – 21 Nov 2021 at Casa Mora, Venice, Italy.
Virtual exhibition (on the website of Time Space Existence)
bioDigital matter's Protomycokion was nominated for the 2021 3DPC award, competing with the world's leading innovators in design for additive fabrication.
Protomycokion was the winner of 2 categories - SUSTAINABILITY and MATERIALS, and Special Mention by Autodesk for Design for Sustainability.
This year's challenge was A Paradigm Shift:
We are facing challenges that our generation has never experienced before - the world is upside down. Society is changing - we are searching and finding solutions to find our way in a "New Normal".
It is in our nature to reflect, to rethink many things. What is essential - what is superfluous? What is sustainable - what can or must we improve? What if ...?
Change gives room for new ideas - room for new technologies.
Digital processes and advanced technologies are taking their place in the holistic life cycle of products, pushing the seemingly unlimited possibilities. Sustainable strategies and forward-looking concepts are becoming an essential need.
The 3D Pioneers Challenge 2021 is looking for the creative minds and innovators that make the future such as students, start-ups and companies who help shape the "Paradigm Shift" and gives them the platform to present their visions and products to the general public.
Jurystatement by Joachim Stumpp, Raumprobe Stuttgart
"This project convinced in both categories- because what can be better than sustainable materials? But to be successful you need to focus on how to produce and implement latest technologies like regrowing materials. This winning concept could change so many applications already today and could be transferred to packaging solutions for example or many more in the future.“
